The Unopened Gift

Making Room For God

No one deserves it. It is free to anyone who accepts it. Someone paid dearly for it. We all caused something very bad to happen so that we could get it.

The person who paid for it doesn’t want anything in return. He gladly gives it to all who will just open their hearts to the gift.

Yet still so many of us turn our backs on the gift. We leave the gift unopened. We ignore the gift. We leave the gift in our family rooms, on our doorsteps, in our kitchens, and in our cars. We see the gift everyday, but decide not to open it.

The gift is Grace.

Jesus died on the cross for all of us to receive Grace. Grace is the gift of salvation. It is the ability for us to be cleansed of our sinfulness.

Jesus died on a cross so that we didn’t drown in our sinfulness. He washed away the waves of sin so that we could pull ourselves from the riptide of hell.

When we go to Jesus with our sinfulness, he offers us Grace. It is a gift. He offers us a gift for our sins. He cleanses us from everything we ask. It is a free gift that he gives us. Who would ever think that He would offer us a gift in return for letting Him down? Yet that is exactly what He does.

He expects nothing from us in return for the gift. In fact, he bears no grudge when we offend Him. He just offers us His love and grace wrapped up as a gift. He happily pulls us up from our own pride and offers us the hope of eternal life.

He paid a high price for us to receive this gift. Inside of this gift of Grace is a card and it says this…

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

What are you waiting for? Open your gift…
