Blank, blank and oh yeah, it’s still blank. I was staring at a blank page on my screen this morning. This doesn’t happen often. Today was one of those days. I read through several different blog sites looking for some type of inspiration. I read through my devotional (which was wonderful) but no inspiration there either. I even started to look up topics online. Nothing. Blank. God’s delivery to me was empty and blank. I had nothing to offer. I had no insight to give into scripture. I had not a clue what to write.
There it was, finally – AH- HA! Stillness with God. Today God was calling me to just be still with Him. He needed me to put aside my writing and just sit in His presence (that’s funny because that is exactly what my daily devotional said). It had been a crazy week. Life had changed in so many ways this week. God just needed to recharge my soul. We have a weekend filled with celebration and family, and God just needed me to take time for myself.
God knows this, and fortunately I caught on to His nudges today. Taking time to heal myself before I take on a big weekend is essential. It is like arming yourself for battle (not that my family is a battle ground). I am readying myself for a physically and mentally exhausting weekend. I wouldn’t be able to do it without God.
Luke 6:12-13 It was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God. And when day came, He called His disciples to Him and chose twelve of them, whom He also named as apostles.
Before Jesus made a big decision or tackled a difficult project, He prayed to God. He went off by himself and spent time with God. By opening His mind and soul to God, he was able to make big decisions. This is how I feel when I have a tough problem to tackle. If I just do what I want and don’t include God, the problem only gets bigger, but if I go off and pray and spend quiet time with God, the solution becomes obvious and the problem decreases with God. Remember my motto – Increase God, Decrease me.
So today, I am going to take extra time with God. Praying and asking for His much needed guidance so that I can rejuvenate my soul (kind of like a spa treatment).
I will return on Monday after I conquer a wonderful, joy-filled weekend with God’s strength at my side!
